Removing Generated by Joomla

If you view source on a Joomla site, you'll see a tag that the site was generated by Joomla.

It is great to give kudos to the team's great effort, but sometimes you may wish to hide it.

If for example, an exploit exists, and an hacker is looking for Joomla sites, they'll find your site with that meta tag in it.

It is simple to remove the tag.

How to use a different home page and not the joomla home page

You have Joomla and when a person enters your domain in a browser it goes to the Joomla defined home page.

What if you want a visitor to start at a completely different page?  You want them to go to a flash landing page, or something completely different.

Can you do this?

YES.

I was logged in as the administrator and spent about an hour typing in two articles -- and when trying to save it, the system gave me that http 403 error.

What happened?  Why?  How can I avoid this in the future?

List Content Section Formatting

The Menu "List Content Section" displays in a confusing way.

The problem is the display between categories in the "List Content Section"  Betwen the table of content items and the next section's description - there is not a clear distinction.  It looks all run together.

How can you make a "demarcation" or a variation between categories?  Does this display look familiar on your Joomla website?

Failed to move uploaded file to media directory - solved

There is a problem with error reporting within Joomla - it doesn't always give you a good indication of the underlying problem.

On a site http://jonandlisah.org I tried to upgrade a component.  I uninstalled the old one and tried to install the newer version.  I've uploaded many components and modules to this site - so I wasn't ready for any problems.

When I clicked on the upload and install button, I received this error:

Failed to move uploaded file to /media directory.
The forum showed many people having this same problem - and none had a definitive answer...  They mentioned permissions to the media folder - so...

How and where to change the article navigation prompts in Joomla (line 273 in english.php)

The <Prev and Next> navigation links at the bottom of a page are just okay.  They aren't very people friendly.  You can add your own NEXT/PREVIOUS    text by editing the language file in Joomla.

For example, to change the bottom / standard <Prev and Next> text to display

<Read Previous            Read Next>

Do the following...
